Hi! My name is Katherine and I am a visual artist making oil paintings, collages, and drawings in Los Angeles California. I moved to CA in 2021 to attend grad school at Otis College of Art and Design, but I spent the majority of my teens and early twenties in South Carolina, working as a graphic designer. Both design and the south greatly influence my current work.

My pieces are representational, drawing upon reference imagery I take myself. In them I collage snippets of nature, landscapes, signage, roadways, trash, textual elements, and a myriad of other scenes I encounter within my daily life - especially ordinary objects one might usually overlook.

I think of myself as an omniscient yet unreliable narrator within my work. Although I have power to select and manipulate included imagery—changing scale, color, order of appearance, what imagery is included, etc—I am still limited by including only what I have previously taken a reference image of. And because I manipulate individual elements, representation becomes skewed. In this way my work is autofictitious - having both literal and subjective parts simultaneously.
