A panopticon of crushed cans and vivid sunsets, "Suburban Dreamland” is a body of work inspired by the neighborhoods, roadways, and commercialism of the small towns surrounding Charlotte, North Carolina: Rock Hill, Fort Mill, Ballantyne, and Pineville.
In their technicolor worlds, churches mingle with recycling, interstates merge into nothing, and donuts float adrift.
More than two years after making these paintings during late 2019 and 2020, I am pleased to finally present this collection of “trash” paintings.
